chiropractor and 2 funnies

First, the chiropractor was GREAT. If anyone needs a great chiropractor in L.A., just ask. She spent an hour and a half with me, with adjustments, hot packs, and talk -- not just "fixing" things but looking at life patterns. She advised me to get some agave sweetener (a lovely light syrup made from a cactus) -- to soothe my sore throat but to do it in a "desert" way to help my body adjust to "living in a desert." That kind of magical thinking totally works with me. *grin*

2 funnies from Mom -- A few nights ago we both got of up and went to the kitchen for snacks after having gone to bed. I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't see what she was fixing for herself, and I asked her what it was. "Bean soup," she replied.

"Bean soup??" I exclaimed. "At this hour?"

In answer, she pointed to the Ghiradelli hot chocolate mix can. "Chocolate is from beans."

Episode 2 -- not intentionally funny but I laughed. Mom had a Jewish Mother chicken soup panic. Apparently she needed to make chicken soup. How do I know this? She came into the kitchen, where I was washing dishes, her arms raised in alarm. "There is no chicken in the house!!!"

After assuring I could go GET some chicken, she settled down. Damn, that was a close one. It's brewing now, and a very Jewish witchy brew it is, wonderful for a rainy day. Go, Mom.
