honored

... by the delightful chelle, who made me this Methos icon as a thank-you for a recent poem I posted on Rog-L and ODM. Thanks, chelle!

In other news, I've been down with a sore throat -- no other symptoms except a little fatigue. Not behaving like a cold, just a sore, sore throat. I'd run off for a strep test except I STILL have not received my Cobra letter and for all intents and purposes have no insurance now. I looked into the LA Free Clinic but you have to, basically, stand in line for two hours before they open to get in and I'm just not up to it. Also I don't have fever or other infection signs so it's pretty unlikely. Still, the life of the albeit temporarilly uninsured? Not fun.

I've secured a chiropractor appointment which I think will help (my intuition voice kept pestering me in my ear yesterday about it -- What a yenta!) I think I basically crashed, after many days of fretting over my mother's health situation. She is feeling quite yucky from a benign tumor on her parathyroid gland, which surgery is supposed to help -- but the logistics of getting said surgery arranged are proving formidable and frustrating. So, here's the deal -- how do you be a caregiver without going out of balance, energy-wise, oneself?

Much to learn -- then again, that's why I came here.

Hey!!!
No more bugging troutkitty (unsuccessfully) for your email address!
This is your ever grateful buddy whom you showered with gifts of much desired prints and fanfic anthology in Boston!
I see you're settled in the West. Sorry to hear about all of the health challenges with you and your family. Very crummy.
Though we have basic health care here, I do understand your angst around not being able to get access to insurance for a while. I had to wait a few years for chiropractic and dental work while doing contract work and generally taking time off to write, and it's no picnic.
Anyway, I don't post very often here, but I am trying to correct that.
I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing from you!

Wow and isn't the internet groovy? Glad you found me! That was the funnest worldcon ever. WEll, it was my first worldcon, ever, but it was still the funnest! I did manage to get to a lovely chiropractor today, and am feeling better energy-wise if not yet with the throat. She prescribed garlic and goldenseal, and agave sweetener to help me adjust to living in the desert, the dry place, but having sweetness nonetheless. Very poetic! I like that in a health care profressional. It totally gets me where I live. How are your ladies-in-the-forest doing? I trust they've found a good home wall to be pretty on? Thanks for writing.
