Gakked from my flist:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next three sentences in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
6. Tag five other people to do the same. (eh, choose yourselves)

from Blood Debt, by Tanya Huff(re-reading to keep the Blood Ties burn going):

"Were you alive?"

Seriously, what do you expect from a book about a vampire who was once the bastard son of Henry VIII? *s*

ETA:

"Were you alive?" Celluci mouthed as she pulled him around the edge of her chair and pushed him down onto a corner of the cluttered desk.

Brows lowered, she acknowledged he'd heard correctly with a single nod, then tried to reassure her caller. "It doesn't matter if they're stupid questions as long as it answers yes."

(They're trying to come up with questions for which the answer is "yes" to assuage a ghost who makes a horrible, mind-curdling sound if you ask a question for which the answer *isn't* yes... or if you do anything else but ask a yes-resulting question. It's complicated... go read it. *s*)

Yes! I re-read all her books once the show came on, and I was not entirely impressed with them all, but I loved that one!

And I didn't expect to because the dynamic had changed so much once Vicki changed.

they're crack, pure and simple. the "plot" doesn't always hold my attention, but the dynamics.... *sighs happily*. i think, oddly, i like them even better now that the tv show has visualized the characters for me. i find i'm liking mike much better than i did purely from the books. he has more ...subtlety to him. and henry... *sizzle* :)

ah, i really do need a henry icon.... for now, my happy little skeleton will have to do.
