These are the notes from the Highlander panel -- Where Are They Now? (with Crossovers) *s*

We (me with the assistance of the lovely Kady Mae) asked, where are the characters of HL now, in today's political and cultural climate? What are they doing? Who are they with?

The following ideas came from those present. Foolishly, I did not write down who thought of what, so I am remiss with the credit. If you want to claim or credit an idea, please comment!

In politics, the idea came up that in Patriot Act America, Immortals in the U.S. would be extra wary about the revelation of their secrets and identities. As a result they might be finding other places to live. Also, what about the Watchers? Are they able to stay secret? Do the FBI or CIA know about them? And speaking of FBI, what's Matthew McCormick up to? Does he use his access to protect the secrecy of immortals? Or keep track of them for himself?

Duncan went to help rescue people after Katrina, and maybe stayed a while to build houses. Gregor went to give ad hoc medical care, or perhaps travels the world with Doctors Without Borders. Amanda is designing jewelry... that she'll later steal.

In music, the opinions of what Duncan is listening to included "opera" and "Styx", but it was generally agreed he's slow to change his tastes. Methos, someone said, is listening to blues (with Joe), and hip hop (to keep up with what's current).

There were plenty of other comments but I don't recall them now. If you were there (or if you weren't), please feel free to add on...

Part 2 of the panel looked at crossovers we'd like to see.

Rome -- is a gimme, as it's canonically part of the timeline of several immortals that we know of -- Methos, Constantine, and...? If we add in AU's, the idea of Duncan as a barbarian gladiator met with some squeeage (he might need to be *cough* tamed -- perhaps by Vorenus). Or a Duncan/Pullo match -- both warriors/soldiers.

Supernatural -- 2 scenes: Methos, tied to a chair, being exorcised by the boys, and correcting their Latin; and Duncan, pissed off at being dowsed in holy water, again. Also, are the Watchers (Buffy, HL) aware of the demons? Have the Winchesters ever encountered Ahriman?

In the Torchwood/Doctor Who universe -- the Doctor could visit any time period, including anywhere on any immortal's timeline. Jack can and should shag anyone. Possibilities abound. Methos likes surfing the Rift (presuming he finds some way to control it). AU non-dead Byron likes surfing it, knowing he *can't*.

Atlantis -- this was someone's incomplete story idea -- Tiff? Was it yours? Immortals are an experiment of the Ancients, one of their attempts at ascension. If the immortal's consciousness is sufficiently... advanced... then at the moment of death, they ascend. If not, the Q goes to the victor, remaining earth-bound. One storyline was that Methos goes to Atlantis and finds it familiar, because he remembers Atlantis from his distant past, from when it was still on earth.

I think it might have been Killa who'd like to see Amanda/Sam. I thought Ceridwyn and Teyla might enjoy a spar, or more...

Methos would tease Rodney mercilessly -- messing up his log-in codes, perhaps. Driving him batty, just because he could. It would all end in tears.

And then, someone mentioned Methos and Ronon. And I thought, ooh, that's good, because we all know how, canonically, Ronon likes to be given orders... And... I had to sit down. (I think a few minutes passed, during which Kady Mae valliantly jumped in. I apparently got a bit *cough* flushed.

It was a good panel, even if they did break me. :)

Methos with Ronon would melt anyone's brain. I mean, um, yes. Hot in here!

Methos being exorcised would be Methos wearing a gag while being exorcised in about three seconds flat. Then Dean would look at Sam being able to produce said ball-gag in under three three seconds, raise his hand and say, "Don't tell me, man. Ever. I mean it."

*happy place*
