the unexpected satisfactions of home ownership
I'm actually ENJOYING the fact that the plumber has now taken care of the running in both toilets. He was pleasant in the way so many New Mexico folk are -- easy-going but attentive.
Tomorrow the jacuzzi repair guy comes, and Hank, the handyman, is picking up ladybugs for me at the nursery (for eating the aphids off my rose bushes). I'd do it myself but he called and said he'd seen them there and it's on his way.
Who knew getting things fixed could be so SATISFYING?

Ooh, the ladybugs sound so cute!

Apparently they must be released at the proper time of day, or like the old verse, they will "Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home."
Haven't found out yet what the proper time is...

Take pictures! Take many pictures! :D
Funnily enough, I could use a thousand ladybugs. Not for aphids (though I did have some earlier this year, but I soap-watered them out). I'm trying to put together a book trailer, and we don't have the CGI savvy to create flying insects on screen. I was seriously contemplating snagging some dragonflies, butterflies or ladybirds (bees would be easy to come by, but not sensible to use) and seeing if I could get them to fly through the camera frame in the right way.
