Inspired By Your Laughter
Inspired by your laughter I come to most things
as if bestowed by a dream.
I watch lightning glaze the skylights like milk.
I listen to the thunder and wait for rain.
Earlier, I stepped out, feeling droplets on my skin.
The trees pattered with it, but it wasn't enough.
Now I turn to you, parading my silly dance to see you smile.
Now I turn to you, thunder and dream and rain.
Thunder rattles the house, a small thing falls from the mantle.
My heart races, and then, quiet.
Waiting. Dreaming. Feeling.
A vivid silence, a storm of peace.
