Tell Boy Scouts of America that you support lifting the ban on gay members

The Boy Scouts of America have announced that next week, their board of directors may vote to end the national anti-gay membership policy. That means that, for the first time, local councils will be able to allow openly gay Scouts and leaders.

The vote next week could go either way -- so now it's more important than ever to tell the BSA's board members that we support this historic policy change to let local groups decide to allow openly gay scouts and leaders, especially since the board is actively soliciting feedback. Here are two ways you can help:

  1. Click here to post a comment on the Boy Scouts of America's Facebook page. The link will take you to a comment thread where the BSA's leaders are monitoring public reaction to the proposed policy change. Write a sentence or two to tell them you support the change, and let them know why it's important to you.

  2. Call the Boy Scouts' national office at 972-580-2330 and tell them you hope they'll vote yes on allowing gay scouts and leaders. When you call, the person who answers will ask if you support the proposed policy change. Just say you are "FOR" the policy change, and you're done!
devo:  I tried calling the number and it's not taking messages at this time, but it was easy to leave a message on the Facebook page.
