I went on a trail ride! With horses!
We had a lesson first, which was good because it's been decades since I was on a horse, and never on a Western saddle. The ride started in Placitas, about a dozen miles north of Albuqurque, in gorgeous rolling deserty hills. The best part was hitting the high point of the ride just as the sun was starting to paint the western horizon in shades of orange and pink, and touch the eastern hills with warm gold light.
My horse was a beautiful toffee and cream Mustang girl named Shortcake, with the prettiest toffee edging along her ears.
I'm going to run an epsom salts bath in a little bit. *grin*
Other things:
This is Andy Borowitz talking about the medical problem that nearly killed him, and how he got through it. The details aren't exactly the same, but his story has a LOT in common with what happened to me in 1984. Especially the end, what he took from it. YES
