Robin McKinley is pissing me off. Readers of her work are well aware of her pointed, almost gleeful refusal to write sequels to stories that pretty much cry out for them -- the remaining,much- hinted at 3rd tale in the Damar series, the "whatever happened to Rae Seddon's family" sequel to Sunshine...
Now, her latest book, Pegasus, ends on a completely unresolved note, more or less a cliff-hanger, with NO WARNING on the cover that this is the first of a series, and nothing on her website to indicate that anything more is planned. After a bit of internet digging I found one comment on a forum that states that yes, a sequel for Pegasus is in the works and will be published in 2012. I would have chosen to wait for the next book before reading a book that ends without closure with an expected 2 year wait for the next installment. I would have appreciated the information needed to make that choice.
Honestly, I think the woman is thumbing her nose at us.
