Karen Lord, author of the forthcoming (and already buzz-worthy) prize-winning novel, Redemption in Indigo (Small Beer Press), wrote me the loveliest review on Amazon and Hanford Mead, my publisher's site:
"This is modern, mystical poetry with ancient and timeless roots. Dvorah Simon's 'Mercy' travels through life, looking within and beyond for beauty, truth and passion. The poems range from deeply interior to intimate, familial, communal, and universal. The everyday and the transcendent intertwine and are treated with equal sanctity. Her facility with language creates a full range of voice from lyrical notes to earthy bluntness. However, she never loses the reader on the journey, as a thread of narrative subtly links one poem to another.
This book makes a good companion for a retreat or meditation."
I'll be over here quietly beaming.
