My friend Selene Vega and I will be offering a workshop for therapists and healers in the Santa Cruz mountains this April called "Opening To Our Depths." We'll be working with the framework developed by Stephen Gilligan called "self relations therapy."
Here's the workshop description:
In this supervision group we create an intensive community that encourages breakthroughs at both personal and professional levels. Using the techniques of Stephen Gilligan's Self-Relations Psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, movement, poetry, and other modes of connecting to ourselves and each other, this workshop is designed to nurture and awaken your soul
into action. For those experienced with Self-Relations work as well as those exploring it for the first time, these groups are an inspiring way to do one's personal work while meeting that requirement.
We will generate together a safe ritual space in which we can explore both the technical and personal aspects of doing Self-Relations and hypnotic work. Selene and Dvorah will teach Self-relations psychotherapy
through lecture, demonstration, smallgroup exercises and therapy work in the center of the group. Participants may invite clients for a consultation
session; or do personal work; or set up a role-playing experience. We focus on entering the "living" relational field that allows therapists and clients to work together in a parallel process linked by experiential-somatic-cognitive conversations for change.
Expect poetry and music and dancing. Bring your drum or other musical instruments if you have them - no previous musical talent necessary. We will all share some cooking and clean-up duties, but these should be fairly light and non-intrusive, and provide a good opportunity to get to know each other.
This course meets the qualifications for 24 continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Let me know if you're interested and I'll get you more details.
