This is the first of a series of vids that comprise a documentary about a 4rth grade classroom in Japan. Their teacher promotes active sharing of journal entries, which leads to incredible compassion on the part of the children. Warning -- there are some very poignant, sad bits in this, as one child shares about the death of his grandparent, and others remember losses they've had. The story continues with how these children support each other in their sadness. In another scene, a child is chastised by the teacher for misbehavior (which definitely made me uncomfortable, as the teacher is furious with this kid), and several of the other children stand up for him. If you don't mind having to grab a hankie or two, the resulting story is incredibly moving.
