devohoneybee: (birds and moon)

Life in New Mexico continues to be good. Some of it is very, very primal for me, like watching thunderstorms or the clouds wreathing the Sandia Mountains, or how bright the morning star is before dawn. Like crossing the Rio Grande river every day on my way to work, and how right that feels, bringing back memories of riding my bike to see the Delaware river when I was a kid. Some if it is the natural friendliness of the place, the easygoing attitudes. Some of it is a work setting that is both challenging and supportive, and the chance to introduce new things, like neurofeedback. Some of it is the relative lack of clutter in my schedule (I'll have to watch that), which gives me energy and time to go to cultural events on weekends (this weekend, which encompasses my birthday, will include a Fiber Arts festival -- I LOVE textiles; last weekend included visiting a local metalwork artist who was born in the same hospital in Wilmington, Delaware that I was - and being gifted with a menorrah care of my realtor, an Asian cultural festival and getting to see dancers perform at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center). All of that is good, and the daily feeling of welcome, or rightness by the earth and sky here. For 5 element people, here's this curiosity -- in both New York L.A., I was constantly drawn to "earthy" things -- clay and pottery, beads for jewelry; here, the earth presence is so strong, I don't feel such a strong need to anchor earth energy in objects, and now I'm finding myself drawn to metal things (copper bowl and wind-chimes, gold and silver and copper jewelry, stainless and copper pots and pans).

I wonder what's next? *smiles*

How are you all doing with respect to a sense of "place"?
