bp info

Friends! May this never be a concern of yours, but if you do happen to end up with a little blood pressure problem, note the following nutritional things you can do, as given to me by my wonderful integrative medicine doc, all in published studies verified by research.

From JANA Vol 7, no 2, 2004

The following things lower blood pressure: potassium, calcium, vitamin D, magnesium, whey protein, sardines, fish oils, GLA, olive oil, vitamin C, co-Q-10, vitamin E, falvanoids, B6, Zinc, Celery, Garlic, Wakame sea-weed, fiber, l-arginine, hawthorne, taurine, l-carnitine, NAC (n-acetyl cystine), alpha-lipoic acid, lycopene, guava fruit, the DASH II diet, weight loss, exercise, and no alcohol.

The STRONGEST result was from celery (4 stalk, or 3 tbs of celery juice 3/day), lowering the diastolic by 6.5 and the systolic by 24 points. Next up was garlic -- 4 grams or 4 cloves, lowering diastolic by 5 points and systolic by 14. Also, 60-200 mg of co-Q-10 over a 4 week period lowered diastolic bp by 10 points and systolic by 15.

So, yesterday, I went and got some celery juice and some green juice with celery included and drank some. I took garlic and celery extracts, and some hawthorne extract. I got up to go to the bathroom 3 or 4 times last night -- it's a little hazy -- and woke up 4 pounds lighter. Hee!
