honey and sting

Today I stood on a cliff edge in Pacific Palisades and watched huge billows of smoke pouring into the sky just on the other side of some hills. Like shadow cumulous, at high speed. The ocean below.

I don't live in an endangered area, but if you are a praying sort, or a visualizing sort, or a caster of spells, or sender of healing energies, or simply willing to entertain a thought on California's behalf, please do it now -- for gentling the winds, for bringing gentle, easy moisture to the air, for the safety of people, animals, and all living things in the area, for the safety of the firefighters and other workers helping out here.
