honey and sting

In the last 2 days I took a train from southern Sweden to Stockholm (slightly more than 4 hour ride) through mostly rural terrain (horses! windmills! forests!), arrived in Stockholm, went for a long walk to the Castle, woke up at 2 am to watch the sun rise (uh....) (that was all yesterday)... then today, we went to a medieval cathedral, with runic stones in the graveyard, a Chinese palace presented by a king to his wife for her birthday, a functioning 18th Century theatre (amazing sets run by pulleys and wheels and whatnot), the summer palace (you simply cannot believe how sumptuous), then over to Upsalla to the Viking mounds and museum and another very old church, then into Upsalla to the cathedral, views of the university, a cafe, and best best best of all today, the Linneaus Museum and garden (oh my god the plant varieties, all, as one might expect, in neat, labled rows hee!).

Now we are pooped, and have turned on the sauna, which the apartment building we are staying in comes equipped with, one to a floor. It's been raining and I am a bit stiff. I think we might manage a quieter day tomorrow... a massage perhaps.
