absolutely awsome: Joss Whedon on "strong female characters." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYaczoJMRhs
Also? My New York trip has gone well, and I got to see Eartha Kitt!!!!!!!!! The woman (speaking of strong female characters) is AMAZING. She is 80 years old, completely in her power, sexy, witty, and seeming to be having the time of her life. She sizzled, she sang, she purrrrrrred, she out-Shakirad Shakira in a Turkish song, kittened it up in a Japanese translation (that was on the hit parade in Japan for 6 months) of "come on a my house", enthralled with classics such as La Vie En Rose, and did female-pov versions of Sinatra songs. She sang of being in the autumn of one's life without regrets, with the joy of being "still here". I cried at nearly everything she did, either from laughing at the wit and wicked sparkle in her eye, or from the sheer honesty and power of her lyrics and delivery. If you have any chance, any chance at all to see her perform live, do whatever it takes to get there. You won't be sorry.
