honey and sting

We seem to have a hiatus in the rain, though more is promised. Birds are singing up a racket in the tree outside my window. There hasn't been anything terribly interesting to report, just the mundane details of setting up a new life-- getting auto insurance, applying for health insurance, setting up new phone service, etc. Lots of dreams, still, about frustrated attempts to get somewhere, usually the airport. Dreams, also, about new career directions. Last night, dreamed of trying to explain to someone why I was going back to school to get a degree in "the anthropology or psychology of religion." The gist of the argument being that spiritual questions have so often been the core of the psychotherapy I do -- depending, of course, on a very broad and non-ideological view of the nature of "spiritual questions."

Someone asked me yesterday how the job search was going, and I answered, "I'm not searching." I'm unwinding. I feel as if there are coils and coils of tension inside me, that are only just surfacing. The asthma is better but not gone -- each day brings more gunk out of my body, more acute an awareness of the preciousness of breath. There is a purity about basic physical functions that can be very... re-orienting.

Took out the beads over the weekend and made 6 or 7 pieces. Exhilarating to create, or rather, arrange what Nature hath wrought. Earthgirl that I am, I do so love the beauty in the stones that come right out of the earth. Worked with kyanite, freshwater pearls, some gorgeously deeply glowy carnelian, peruvian opals, both blue and pink, and chrysoprase. Yum. Mee. I've purchased a table in the dealer room at Escapade and plan to offer my wares. Should be fun. That's all for now... may tackle the DMV today.

Oh, and to my psychologist friends, did you know you can get a discount on auto insurance just for being a psych?? (Slightly soothes the sting of having to pay so much as a long time Manhattanite --read "non-driver", hence without a record of recent auto insurance.)
