poem: One Day

One Day

One day, you'll wake
to a distant singing
as far as memory
as close as pain
as intimate as skin, when
you lick the salt to taste the sea
you refused to wash away

One day, it will be clear
that the holy of holies
is you. That there is nothing
more mysterious
than being alive.

Some say, it's just a prelude.
The real song
comes after.

I say, the miracle
is now. As sweet as
air. Listen, now,
how the heart twangs
to keep its beat.

Until then, courage.
You'll need it, here,
until you learn to dance. Until
you've heard the song,
and the music takes you.

Things will seem pretty drastic,
meanwhile.

Devo!!
Work being pretty "drastic" around here I have been totally out of touch. But for some reason I made time to check my flist tonight and now I know why -- to read your poem. Huge hugs!! This is just wonderful. I espceially grocked the last line *g* {{{thank you}}}

Yeah, that last line really seems to be resonating. Because, yeah, life really is like that sometimes. Here's to hearing the song, nonetheless. *hugs* Glad you liked it.
