Happy Alive Day to me!

On September 16th, 1983, I had a medical crisis which very nearly took me. It didn't.

I am very, very happy to be here. Remembering this makes me feel a lot of love and gratitude for my life, the people in it, and the poignant beauty of living on earth.

Anyone else have an "alive" day or equivalent?

I have... two, now that I think about it. Both in December, four years apart from each other (sophomore year of high school and sophomore year of college). For a while there was a (kind of macabre) running family joke about my needing to spend Christmas in the hospital every so often. But yes, remembering those days makes me grateful indeed for my life and all the blessings in it.

No near-deaths or even serious illnesses here (many thanks to anyone looking out for me), but I celebrate your alive day with you, because I'm glad to've met you and to know you now, and before 1983 we just couldn't've had any meaningful conversation!

I was two! And three months. I think we could've had a meaningful interaction, I just think conversation might've been a reach! :D
