The Raven, the Vampire, and the Moon

1. Amanda

See how she plays with moonlight,
dipping herself into this shadow and that,
stretching herself into time, and back,
practicing.
It's not the prize she seeks,
though it glitters in her hand
and makes her smile.
She'll slip behind Creation's veil.

To deceive is to capture, for a time,
what Raven knew:
never let your colors show
when black will do.
Neither let time's darkness quell
the prism of your dreams.

2. Lacroix

She shines. She undulates through time
like the hours he once embraced: longer in summer
to fit their measure from first light to last. Now tied
to a tyranny of clocks divorced from season and from
grace. Though his gods are long disowned, he honors this:
Amanda's freedom from the rule of measured hours.
From the shadows of his night,
he smiles.

3. The Moon

She smiles to be
a goddess in their eyes.
These thieves of night and time
by blessing make
this ancient lump of rock
a thing sublime.
